Jig's Up Blugold Ice Fishing Contest
Location: The View on Lake Wissota, 17779 Cty Hwy X, Chippewa Falls
Brought to you by UWEC Recreation, Blugold Athletics and the Lake Wissota Lion’s along with title sponsors Scheels, Eau Claire Ford, Subway, and Airforce/Special Ops; over $80,000 in cash and prizes given out including a 2-year lease on a 2020 Ford F150 Truck to be drawn from all registered Fish Tickets! Prizes awarded to the top 25 fish and every 5th place thereafter by weight to 300th place so even a small fish can win big!
Each participant may register one fish per ticket; tickets are $25 with no limit on the number of tickets an individual can purchase. Everyone who registers a fish may request two free Blugold Football Tickets at the weigh-in stations (value $16).
Raffle prizes include a 2019 Polaris Sportsman 450 4-wheeler, $500 Scheels gift cards, and more. Raffle tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. $100 Gift card prizes for the top fish by weight in each category: northern, walleye, and pan fish. "The One that Got Away" drawing from all Fish ticket holders that did not register a fish; must turn in Fish ticket stub at the Prize Table at The View by 2:30pm.
Scheels Kids Klub fishing event at 12pm. Free lunch for the kids and prizes.

Kids on Ice Youth Hockey Endowment Night
Kids on Ice Endowment Night hosted by the Chippewa Steel at the Chippewa Ice Arena, 839 First Ave., Chippewa Falls.
Celebrate Valentine's Day by honoring a loved one who's been your biggest fan, favorite coach, or hardest working volunteer. Please join us on Friday, February 14th at the 7 pm Chippewa Steel hockey game to help raise funds for the Kids on Ice Endowment Fund benefiting Chippewa Youth Hockey. Come see the newly remodeled North rink, high school locker rooms, and outdoor community rink. Proceeds from this event will be invested in perpetuity. Earnings from the fund will be used for capital projects at the rink while your donation in your loved one's name stays invested forever.
Admission to the Steel game, access to the CCF Bank Loft, wine and sushi, beer and wings, and free raffle drawings are included with the VIP tickets. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Kids on Ice Endowment Fund at the Community Foundation.More Information »
Think Spring Garden Seminar

The Chippewa County Master Gardeners Annual Think Spring Seminar will be held on Saturday February 15, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Avalon Hotel & Conference Center located at 1009 W. Park Avenue, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729.
Speakers and session breakouts will include “Confessions of a Hydrangea Hoarder”, “Pruning Primer” and “Introduction to Horticultural Therapy” with Mike Maddox, UWEX-Madison Outreach Program Manager; “Rain Gardens, Native Buffer Plantings and More…” with Barb Barrickman from the Lake Wissota Lake Association; “Start Your Own Seedlings Seed Starting Basics” with Ellen Terwilliger, Eau Claire Master Gardener volunteer; “Planning and Planting Small Native Plant Gardens” with Mary Jo Fleming, Chippewa Valley Master Gardener Volunteer; “Growing Giant Pumpkins” with Joe Ailts, St. Croix Grower’s Association; “Edible Perennials” with Dora Wood, Chippewa Valley Master Gardener Volunteer; “High Tunnel System” with Tammy Lindsay, USDA District Conservationist; “In the Garden with Kids” with Margaret Murphy, UWEX-Madison Division of Extension Horticulture Outreach Specialist; “Growing and Using Culinary Herbs” with Erin LaFaive, owner of Full Circle Herbals; and Shaun Christensen of Christensen’s Florist will provide a workshop on “Houseplant Propagation”. Additional workshops include “Ask a Master Gardener” a panel of Chippewa Valley Master Gardener Volunteers will answer your gardening questions and “Learn How to Grow Microgreens” with Dr. Dan Czelatdko, owner of Farm Doc Microgreens. Attendees have the opportunity to choose between several educational programs during the different breakout sessions planned throughout the day. Speakers include local Chippewa County Master Gardener Volunteers, UWEX-Madison Specialists and local garden/nursery owners. There is something for everyone!
Vendors will also on-site with specials and gardening related products for sale which will round out a fun filled garden themed shopping experience.
