Joas Park Nature Preserve

Joas Park Nature Preserve is a 52-acre parcel that was generously donated by 97-year-old Joe Joas for the purpose of keeping it wild for the study of nature and the enjoyment of the public. Its features include a pond with Misty Creek flowing into it, stately pines, hardwoods, and some prairies/meadows. There are trails that have recently been developed that skirt the pond and follow Misty Creek for awhile and then pass through a small meadow. This is a year-round destination along the Old Abe State Trail offering outdoor recreation for hikers, bikers, snowshoers, and cross-country skiers.
